News

* July 2007 - Holiday Club week was certainly eventful - much of Gloucestershire was under water; there was no electricity on the first day, so we couldn't start until day 2; many of the children were unable to get to the event as roads were not passable... we had a good time anyway, with a definite sense of adventure... and CD sales were encouraging, given the reduction in numbers attending the event. As well as JIMH, which is already popular, "Toe The Line" and "Peace Be With You" were firm favourites.

* July 2007 - Holiday Club runs 23-27 July; we are once again doing a world tour of Gloucester schools. The new album "God's World" will be released to coincide with Holiday Club. Tracklist is confirmed as...

01. Good Morning Jesus
02. Jesus In My Heart
03. Toe The Line
04. Peace Be With You

God’s World Symphony:
05. On Day One
06 .God’s World
07. The World and Everything
08. From Nothing to Something
09. Very Good Overture

10. New Life
11. Elijah
12. Joy In My Heart ...

* March 2007 - after a year's slog, Treasure Island has come and gone .. now on to this year's music...

* Dec 2006 - Pantomime is consuming most of the time at present - I've enjoyed taking services in Gloucester, Cheltehnam and nearby (a lesser-known small village in the Cotswolds)... I've only written 2 lines of a new song since the Summer - wait for March, when the Pantomime is over and new songs will have to be written...

* Sept 2006 - After a break, normal Church is resuming. I have several services over the coming months, which should feeature some of the songs from "King Of Rock". I am also starting work on directing a pantomime, "Treasure Island", wot I have written. more details will emerge on the BADCo website...

*July 2006 - Holiday Club has been and gone this year - see elsewhere on this site for details of the new album "King Of Rock" which was released at the start of the week. The 2 songs from February appear on the CD, as do some written specailly for the event.

*Feb 2006 - and still here... Cross-Rhythms review of "Hear The Voice" makes hilarious reading! Work is starting on the follow-up, including the re-work of "Walls Come Down". Another song, "God Can Still Use You" gets a couple of airings in church.

* Oct 2005 - sales of "Hear The Voice" contine to be encouraging. This has proved to be the best selling t'Revorlution album to date. A newsflash regarding it has appeared on the Cross Rhythms website, but as yet no review. It will be interesting to see how the review compares with "Future Worship" ...

* 24 Sept - Gloucester Harvest today - the Church takes over the City for a day ... a good day was had by all and many copies of "Free Indeed" were given away, free.

* 5th Sept - Sales of the new CD going well... Sunday School starting up again... better write some new songs...

*30th July - the week is over - only the Family Service to go. We averayed 59 children per day. Ishmael paid a visit on Friday and a wonderful time was had by all. Sales of "Hear The Voice" are very healthy (I ran out of stock!).

* 25th July - Landlubbers starts with 55 children from all over Gloucester, who enjoy singing "Pirates of JC" and a modified version of "Solid Rock" - the details of this are not available until negotiations with MCA records have finished! Copies of the CD are packaged up and ready to go...

*28 June - just under a month to go until the release of "Hear The Voice". The Gloucester Schools tour is starting shortly in preparation for this year's Holiday Club - "Landlubbers"

*2 June - work continues on the new songs

*12 May - further samplesof new album uploaded.

*22 April 2005 - started work on the 2005 Album, which will be available at this ear's Holiday Club at the end of July.

*25 Oct - "Future Worship" is reviewed in Cross Rhythms magazine, edition 83. The review is also on their web page, where you can buy copies...link

*Oct - Wishing to help some newcomers at Brun' to find out about the songs we sing in Sunday School, I put 24 of them onto a CD and called it "songswesing". Some of these need re-recording, but this feels like a good project to begin working on for a proper release. Watch this space

* Sept - I received a letter from CCL - apparently some Church somewhere is singing "On Day One". If you're reading this - many thanks - please let me know who you are!

* Sept - Once again, Gloucester was taken over by the Church at the end of September for the Gloucester Harvest celebration. The group Be-atitude made a welcomed return to the event. Also, U-Turn, a local Christian youth rock band, appeared, generating a lot of interest.

*Aug - Holiday club went well. Copies of the EP are largely sold out.

*July 26-30 Holiday Club ... This year is "Xpedition Force". We have had an average of 53 children per day for the first 4 days; over 70 altogether. We have 5 musicians playing a combination of old HoWay tunes, other people's songs and 2 (up until now) unrecorded songs. I have rushed out an EP, "Up Up Up" containing the original material we are using...

*June 2005

"The Severn Bores" play at Brun - download "Flatten The Mountains"

Holiday Club 2004 is on the way - this year its "Xpedition Force"

New songs "Gods Word" and "Hallelujah" being unveiled

*28th March... Ishmael arrived safely for the family service today...

*29th Feb 2004 - We are hurredly learning some of Ishmael's new songs in preparation for his visit. I'm involved in a charity Variety Show in April - rehursals are coming thick and fast right now, delaying work on the next t'Revorlution project... I've updated the Family Worship page following some more information provided by Darren Chubb.

*Jan 2004 - News that Ishmael is coming to Brun' to take the Sunday School anniversary service at the end or March!

* Nov 23rd - Copies of "Future Worship" are now available. Discography page udated to include recent releases.

* Nov 15th - A re-arrangement of the back-catalogue sees the deletion of "Living In Extra Time" - the tracks "United", "Jesus Has The Power", "Holy Rap", "Hop Skip & Jump" will now appear as bonus tracks on "Living In Extra Time".

* Nov 11th - Putting the finishing touches onto the sleeve of "Future Worship" - very close to being able to release the thing...

* Sept 27th Gloucester City Harvest today - all the churches will be out in the city...

* Sept 27th (2003 still) - progress on the new album is variable - see the forthcoming page.

*Aug 23rd - I've got a few days reasonably free to work on some songs.

* July 25th - last day of Holiday Club today. I never got to do the Bass playing live, but the practice was worthwhile. We've had 46 children most days, many of them new to Brun'. The band have performed well. We have picked up an extra keyboard player on the way, so now we're a 7 piece. At last, I can be in a band called "The Severn Bores"

* July 21st - Holiday club starts today - the band are almost all practiced. If all goes to plan, we have Piano, Keyboard, Drums, Clarinet, 2*Guitar. On one song, I'll be pretending my guitar is a Bass; let's see how it goes.

* July 17th - New unofficial Holiday Club theme "Cool 2 Believe" is added to the Jungle EP. Copies are ready to roll... but only at the Holiday Club.

*July 7th - "Jingle Jangle Jungle EP" is just about ready for issue at Holiday Club. This will not be available elsewere. The EP combines new songs "4FR 2Worship", "Angels On The Wing", "Hero" and "Through The Years" with oldies "Clap & Sing" and "Hop,Skip & Jump". The EP will help the kids from Holiday Club remember, but also provides a taster for the album, when it appears.

* July 7th - Forthcoming Album page added

* July 7th - preparing for Holiday Club; getting together the songs we will be using; looking at practising with other musicians...

* June 25th - Brun' are currently running a mission, aided and abeted by a grop from the USA, led by Steve Pierce.

* June 25th - Aforementioned "Angels on the wing" is slowly taking shape as a song for the new album. Several of the new songs are relevant to the forthcoming Holiday Club, so I may be putting out an EP as a stopgap...

* June 25th - We are starting to plan for this year's Harvest Celebrations in Gloucester. This time round, there's a big celebration planned outside the cathedral.

* May 18th.... heading towards Holiday Club in July... We're doing "Jungle Jamboree", which is written by John Hardwick. As well as a jungle theme, there are bits of Luke's gospel thrown in. The three parables about Lost & Found appear, so I've written a song to inclue all of them. It's called "Angels On The Wing".

* May 4th - Duggie Dug Dug appeared "live" at Brunswick Baptist Church. Much fun was had all round and many people took steps closer to Jesus.

* May 2003 - I've recorded a couple more songs, "P-p-p-praise God" is a dance-ish mix. "4FR 2 Worship" is a song with lots of numbers in it. Both of these are likely to be on the new album, for which I currently have loads of possible titles. I've temporarily chosen "UR1 4FR". I've also recorded a load of short instrumentals, which may make it, and an instrumental arrangement of "On Day One", which I call "Very Good Overture". I've also written some more new songs, including "Who Is The King of Kings" and the backing for a song which will probably be called "Waiting for the King of Glory". The process is really slow, as I haven't taken time off work to do this - it's a matter of finding the odd hour.

*Jan 2003 - I've updated the complete song list with many of the new compositions from the last year. The site has overflowed with content, so I've removed some of the mp3 files.

* Jan 2003 - This year, one of the big challenges is to put together a kid's music group at Brun'. We have many talented children and young people - now we hope to lead each other in Worship. The first Sunday in February is our first attempt at making this work...

* Jan 2003 - After the usual rush of activity at Chtristmas, it's back to normal - and I'm reviewing the songs I currently have - could there be another album forthcoming? Well, there are 2 songs pencilled in for it "Through The Years" and "Every Day" (that would be a Christmas song)

* Nov 6th. It's been a while since I updated this... August 2002 Holiday Club was called "Desert Detectives". We dug for truth in the Desert and in the Bible. Good fun all round. Harvest 2002 included the Kids from Brun' performing flag-waving routines in the City centre - including a routine to "Calling All". I'm still writing regularly, such songs as "Hero", "Who Has Measured The Waters", "Big Trouble", "Be Salty, Don't Be Planky". I'm not sure at the moment if any of these will make it to the next album ... too early to think about ...

* Sales of "Car Park Music" not sensational, but not zero either !!!

*14th July - Previewed the songs "Still Will I Trust You" and "Ba-Dom" in our family service - CD on pre-release sale to the congregation only. As from tomorrow, it's available worldwide... Watch out for more clips on the website...

*7th July - The release date for "Car Park Music" is set for 15th July. *I've hopefully done the final mix and just about finished the packaging. Tomorrow I'll be giving the disc a good listen, then I should be starting the production line running. For this CD, all money from the sales (that's 100% of the cover price - £5) will be going towards the Sunday School. Watch out for news of a big event which it will help to finance.

*Check out details of "Car Park Music" - including some real media downloads of 2 of the songs.

*30 May - I've recorded all of the songs for the new album. The list is much as below, without "Biggest Bestist Party". I need to spend some time reviewing the songs and getting the order right. I've put in a bit of time to add some secret tracks to this CD - these will offer a little bit of history...

*15 May - After having my bionic eye fitted last week, I'm off work for a while. Eye and back permitting, I'm spending a little time on the new album. "Car Park Music" currently has a track list of: Calling, Jesus Is Lord Of Our Nation, Hey-Oh, cocophanEE, I'm Gonna Follow Jesus, It Was Jesus, Jesus Is Risen, Alien, Biggest Bestist Party, Jesus Is, H - to the - A, God Made, Still Will I Trust You. Of these, 3 are completed and the rest in various states of unreadiness... watch this space.

*24 April - The week off was somewhat shortened by the temporary demise of my computer.

I had time to record one sing, "Jesus Is", although there is still some mixing to be done on this one.

I now have a date for what could be my final eye operation - May 15th - so news updates and

new songs will be even quieter for a couple of weeks after that.

*8 March - I've taken the first week on April off work; this should enable some real progress on the

difficult third album. I've got about 20 possible songs, puls as many titles for the album. And in case

you're wondering, it won't be called "The Difficult Third Album" - I think it was Billy Bragg who

pinched that one.

*27 Feb - a preview of another new song "Praise Him Like This" appears on the site.~This is one

of those rare occasions when I made up the entire backing track without knowing the words. In fact,

the words on this are still only draft, pinched from Psalm 150, to see how they work. I'm pretty sure

that this will make it to the difficult third album later this year, but the words will be different.

*25th Feb - one of my duties as a Deacon at Brunswick Baptist Church (Brun') is to spend an

evening in the car park every 6 weeks (we have had cars broken into during the evening service).

On these occasions, I tend to take my guitar along and compose. Last night, I wrote 2 new songs,

so look out for "I'm Gonna Follow Jesus" and "Hey-Oh!". These are strong contenders for the new

(as yet untitled) album, amongst 16 other songs. I have a kid's list and a grown-up list, so this

promises to be even more of a mixture than "Hold The Light".

* Just heard that Gloucester City Council have penned in another City Harvest Festival this year.

* I've received soem Holiday Club material called "Desert Detectives" - it's all about

discovering the Bible...

* New songs arriving! This one probably won't be sung with Sunday School! it's a bit

Dylanesque - it's called "It Was Jesus" - take it with a pinch of salt! ... and then there's "Jesus Is"

* January 2002 - normal life resumes after Christmas. We're doing a family service on 13th Jan.
New Year means New Songs - I'm hoping to introduce 1 a week to our Church. The first one
was "Jesus Is Lord Of Our Nation", which is a re-write of one of my old songs.
(I have a lot of secular songs which I wrote largely between 1982 and 1990. Many of these
have catchy tunes, so I've decided to trawl through them to see what can be re-written for the
Sunday School kids. No point re-inventing the wheel.)

* Sunday 23rd December sees the long awaited release of the 2001 Stonking Christmas mix -
the album versions of "Jesus Has The Power", "Big Star" and "Trumpet & Drums" are expertly
spliced together. To give the CD some substance, a handful of out-takes from "Hold The Light"
are included. This is the first product to appear under the new name
* A rush of activity around Christmas - I'm doing some illusions for school children in Leckhampton,
that's on the 20th - then there's a service on 23rd at Winston Baptist Church - and finally, on
Christmas Day, it's the big service at Brun', where I get to play with all the presents.
* "Have You Seen The Light" returned to Brun' as planned. After rehursing with the children and
musicians separately, we finally put it all together...
* 16th December - The Sunday School at Brunswick Baprtist Church, Gloucester, will
be performing "Have You Seen The Light?" as this year's nativity.
Work is alredy underway. This time round, all the music will be live!
* 2nd December - Back to Hempsted Primary School for another assembly
* 14th Oct 2001 : Worskip with the kids of Brun' is the main weekly activity.
Among the old favourites, the odd new song gets slipped in. Recently, "I Am An Alien".
My eyes are now focussing on Christmas, with a possible production of "Have You Seen The Light"
I'll set up a new page with this material on...
* 29th Sept 2001 : What a great day out ! The People Of God took over the city - and from electric
blues rock to ambient, provided the soundtrack for the city. I was very pleased with the way
"Trumpet &Drums" and "Big Star" sounded when amplified over the city centre. Congratulations
to all concerned - and look out for a new band called Believe - they have the musicianship of Free
in their early days, but with a Christian message. *** "Big Star" download and Lyrics ***
* Look out for the new branding on my products:
*11th Sept 2001 : I took my first ever school assembly at Hempsted School. We all had a
noisy time and I'm certainly looking forward to my return visit later in the year.
* Brunswick Baptist Church, Gloucester held a Holiday Club on August 27-31 - loads of fun was
had, and the new EP "Danger, God At Work" was enjoyed.
*1st June 2001 - Release of "Hold The Light" - click here for track listing
* Christmas 2001 is already looking exciting - there could be a new performance of
"Have You Seen The Light", together with a single release of the 2001 stonking Christmas mix
* "On Day One" is published by WMF. This is via their "Sing A New Song" project,
which encourages songwriters to get their songs assessed by the professionals.
